Conditions for Use of JAS Logo
The Accreditation Unit (AU) strongly encourages the accredited bodies to use the Logo of the Jordanian Accreditation System (JAS), referred to hereafter as "the Logo", as a mark of recognition of their competence to perform the tests defined in the scope of accreditation.
The accredited laboratory is entitled to use the Logo according to the following requirements:
1 Display of the Logo
1.1 The Logo shall be displayed only in the appropriate form, size and colour. The laboratory is entitled to enlarge or reduce the original size, if necessary, provided that the original proportion between height and width is maintained.
1.2 The Logo shall be displayed together with the laboratory accreditation certificate number.
1.3 The accredited laboratory is entitled to display the Logo on sheets of its stationary (e.g. publicity materials, brochures, test reports) or other items relevant to the laboratory's accredited activities, subject to the conditions set out in this document. It is not allowed to use the logo on the business-cards of the lab employees or correspondence papers used by the lab.
1.4 The Logo may be used as a die-stamp or an embossment (in colour or b/w) provided that the conditions set out in this document are fulfilled.
2 The Logo on test reports
2.1 The accredited laboratory is entitled to display the Logo on the reports which contain only results of tests carried out within the scope of accreditation.
2.2 The accredited laboratory may report non-accredited results on test reports with the Logo therein, provided that:
2.2.1 The non-accredited results form only a maximum of 40% of the total number of reported results.
2.2.2 These results are unambiguously identified as non-accredited results.
2.3 Subcontracted results:
If a laboratory reports subcontracted test results in its test report within its scope of accreditation, these results shall be unambiguously identified as being subcontracted.
2.4 Disclaimer for opinions, interpretations, etc.:
When a laboratory issues test reports incorporating the Logo and containing opinions or interpretations or other material relating to investigation activities and which are not an integral part of the test method, this information shall be unambiguously identified as being outside the scope of accreditation.
3 Use of the Logo in publicity materials
3.1 Accredited laboratories shall not misuse the Logo in its publicity materials. They are entitled to use the Logo in materials that refer to the accredited services provided that all the requirements of this document are fulfilled. Accredited laboratories are also entitled to make general reference to accreditation provided that they ensure that accreditation is not implied for non-accredited activities.
3.2 The Logo shall not be used in product literature unless it is located directly adjacent to the part that refers to the accredited laboratory that has tested the products. It shall also clearly state that the Logo does not imply any certification/approval of the products tested.
4 Other restrictions on use of the JAS Logo
4.1 The Logo shall not be displayed on a test item or product (or attached thereto) or used to imply product certification.
4.2 The Logo shall not be used in such a way as to imply that AU accepts responsibility of the accuracy of a test report or any opinions or as an approval of the test item.
4.3 Uses of the Logo:
4.3.1 The accredited laboratory may use the Logo on items other than sheets of stationary, but this shall be subject to agreement by AU and the requirements of this document.
4.3.2 An accredited laboratory may use the Logo in advertisements, but the requirements of this document shall be met.
4.4 Suspension of the Accreditation:
4.4.1 In case of temporal suspension of accreditation for the whole of the accreditation scope, the accredited laboratory shall immediately cease to issue test reports displaying the Logo. In the case of suspension of part of the scope of accreditation, this holds for the suspended part.
4.4.2 In the above case, the laboratory shall also cease publishing documents carrying the Logo and limit distribution of the existing documents to brochures.
4.5 In case of withdrawal of the accreditation either by AU or voluntarily upon the request of the laboratory, the accredited laboratory shall immediately cease displaying and distribution of all items on which the JAS Logo is displayed.
