Amendment of Jordanian Standard 441:2002 related to
"Steel - Carbon steel bars for concrete reinforcement, Part 1:
Hot rolled grade 300, grade 420, and grade 460, and grade 520 steel bars.

Consistent with the policies of Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology of the preparation and amendment of the Jordanian technical regulations/Standards to comply with international standards and keep abreast of scientific developments, the Permanent Technical Committee for Iron and Steel (28) has amended the Jordanian technical regulation No. 441/2002 related to "Steel - Carbon steel bars for concrete reinforcement, Part 1: Hot rolled grade 300, grade 420, and grade 460, and grade 520 steel bars", and agreed on the following amendments based on the American Standard A 615 / A 615M - 09:

I: The technical specifications, test methods, and evaluation for the steel with minimum yield strength 500 MPa (460 MPa previously) are in accordance with British Standard 4449, while the designation will be studied in the light of comments received from the interested parties.

II: Modify the
minimum yield strength 300 MPa (grade 40) to become 280 MPa (grade 40), and to maintain the other two minimum yield strengths 420 MPa (grade 60) and 520 MPa (grade 75) as they are.

III: Modify the value of the tensile strength of the steel with minimum
yield strength
300 Mpa (previously) to be 420 N/mm 2 instead of 500 N/mm 2.

IV: There are some amendments
of percentage elongations for steel bars grades 40, 60, and 75, using a gauge length of 200 mm to determine these percentage elongations.

Note that the Permanent Technical Committee for Iron and Steel (28) had completed its review of this technical regulation, and the draft would be circulated for voting, on chambers of Industry (factories and companies of iron), chambers of commerce, scientific research bodies, and other interested parties
